Mustric Family Web Site

Welcome to Sophia's Web Page!

Sophia is now in fourth grade. They are studying Ohio history, plants, digestion and nutrition. She is getting good grades. As you can see, she got braces this year.

She still wants to be a psychiatrist and even practices on Mom when Mom is having a bad day!

Last summer she spent a week going to horsback riding camp again. Another week was spent at Girl Scout camp in southern Ohio. She and her friend Devin attended "Aquadivas" which had a focus on swimming. They learned diving and canoeing and spent a day at a water park near Cincinnati. She moved up from Brownies to Juniors. She still plays soccer and basketball. Sophia loves to write stories about animals. She is learning about all the different breeds of dogs.
Sophia had the same third grade teacher as her brother. He instills a love of reading in all of his students. Sophia sets goals for herself, such as reading more books than anyone else in class. Last summer she spent three days and nights at Girl Scout camp with her best friend. She was homesick but they managed to have a lot of fun. She also did a week of horseback riding camp. She loves animals and spends lots of time watching the Animal Planet channel. She doesn't want to be a veterinarian anymore because she would have to put down animals occasionally. Now she wants to be a psychiatrist.
Second grade and Sophia has all her old friends from last year plus everyone in class this year. Sophia has a way of getting along well with everybody. She loves school, has a great teacher and is learning a lot. Over the summer she spent a week (mornings) at horseback riding camp.
Sophia is in 1st grade at High Point Elementary School. She loves school, except for the fact that she has to miss out on 6 hours of TV every day! Sophia has many friends in her class this year. She writes a lot of stories and keeps everyone laughing. Her writing is very creative, but her spelling is atrocious! She has a good understanding of math concepts. She is still interested in science, especially the human body. She loves animals and wants to be a veterinarian.
Sophia has afternoon Kindergarten this year. She gets to ride the bus to school each day. A good friend of hers from preschool is in her class, and she is making lots of new friends! She is learning how to read and is doing very well. She is very interested in science and loves to do experiments. She likes animals a lot. Her teacher tells us she is the "class clown", not exactly what we wanted to hear, but at least she is well-liked!
Sophia has reached the age of five and her preschool days are almost over. She is starting to read and spell words (thanks to big brother and sister she has learned how to spell "FAT" and likes to write "MOM IS FAT" whenever she gets a chance!) She can also spell CAT and DOG and she tries to sound out words as best she can. She loves to draw pictures and "make books" using Mom's paper and stapler. She continues to be extremely sweet and loving, which helps her get away with being mean and disobedient once in a while. She loves dogs, and has to pet every one that goes past our house. She knows the names of many of the neighborhood dogs, even if we don't know their owners! Sophia also loves to sing.
Sophia is four years old now and in charge of everything. She tells everyone what to do, and how to do it. She and Allie love to spend hours playing Barbies together, or beauty salon (lock up those scissors!) She also likes playing Nintendo games with her brother. She loves pretending with her dolls and stuffed animals, and even takes her stuffed dog outside to go to the bathroom every morning! Sophia is learning the alphabet (hear me sing the ABC song) and knows most of the letters and can write her name. She can count up to 30, sort of, (hear me count) but more importantly seems to understand the concepts of counting objects and adding. She is extremely social and hugs everyone she sees, including friends, neighbors, the mailman, cashiers at the grocery store, waiters in restaurants, and the principal and secretary at her brother's and sister's elementary school. We think she may grow up to be a diplomat.
Sophia is now a sophisticated 3-year-old! She has moved up from Barney and Teletubbies to Barbie and lip gloss and nail polish. She is looking forward to starting preschool in the Fall. Sophia loves to do everything herself, including getting dressed, brushing teeth, and going to the bathroom. She has been completely potty-trained for quite some time now. Sometimes when we're not paying attention, she sneaks outside and runs down the sidewalk to visit her friends down the street. She likes to roller skate and ride her tricycle. She loves to make jokes and is quick to pick up on her brother's and sister's jokes. When she's not in a time-out, she usually keeps us laughing. She can now count up to 12, but the only letters she has learned so far are "S" and "A".
Sophia is now approaching 3 years old.  She can count to 3, (sometimes 4) and loves to do everything her big brother and sister do.  She loves Barbie dolls, dress-ups, cartoons, and playing outside.  Her favorite cartoons are Rugrats, The Powerpuff Girls,  and Pokemon.  Her favorite Pokemon characters are Pikachu and Squirtle.  She talks extremely well for her age and can carry on lengthy conversations.  She likes to go to gymnastics classes and hang upside down from the bar and jump on the big trampoline.

Sophia Rose was born two weeks early, just like her big sister. Arrival was early Friday morning, March 27, 1998, at 12:49 a.m. She weighed 6 lbs. 2 1/2 oz. and measured 18 1/2 in. long. As a baby, she had strong lungs and cried a lot, as you can hear.
